Sono nato nel 1976 a Catania e ho trascorso la mia adolescenza a Giarre, un paese incastonato tra l'Etna e il mare. Dopo aver conseguito la laurea in Ingegneria Ambientale all'Università degli Studi di Firenze, l'amore mi ha portato a Siviglia, una città che mi ha accolto per dieci anni, immergendomi nella sua luce e nei suoi colori .

Tornato in Sicilia, insegno tecnologia in una scuola secondaria di primo grado. Qui, la curiosità e la creatività dei miei alunni mi ispirano ogni giorno, rendendo il mio lavoro molto stimolante.

L'amore per la fotografia è sbocciato fin da quando ero bambino, sfogliando gli album di famiglia, in particolare quello dei miei nonni, che hanno vissuto un'avventurosa vita ad Addis Abeba, in Africa. Quegli scatti mi hanno insegnato l'importanza della memoria e del ricordo, preservati attraverso le fotografie.

A partire dai 26-27 anni, la fotografia è diventata una necessità quotidiana, un richiamo irresistibile.

Fotografare è diventato un modo di essere, trasformando il mio sguardo sulla realtà e sulle persone. Mi ha permesso  di riscoprire la bellezza nei dettagli e nelle sfumature della vita quotidiana. 

La fotografia per me non è solo un documento, ma un flusso di coscienza continuo, un mezzo per esprimere il mio mondo interiore. Da persona che aveva difficoltà a comunicare le proprie emozioni, oggi riesco a esplorare e veicolare il mio mondo emotivo attraverso le immagini

Dopo aver esplorato vari generi fotografici, mi sono dedicato alla street photography. Non seguo un approccio documentale, ma piuttosto un'interpretazione astratta della realtà: la realtà è un mezzo che riconfiguro attraverso l'inquadratura, la scelta del tempo e il punto di vista. Le geometrie, le linee, i colori, le relazioni tra i piani sono strumenti per comporre e trasmettere emozioni, idee o semplicemente la bellezza. La street photography per me è una filosofia, un atteggiamento verso la vita. Il fotografo di strada esce senza sapere cosa scatterà, pronto a meravigliarsi del quotidiano.

Recentemente ho accettato la sfida di lavorare su serie fotografiche, ampliando la mia ricerca. Un corso di quasi un anno con Daniele Vita è stato cruciale per me, insegnandomi a raccontare storie non attraverso una singola foto, ma attraverso una serie di immagini. Confrontarmi con altri fotografi e seguire l’evoluzione dei loro progetti è stata un'esperienza formativa e arricchente.

I was born in 1976 in Catania and spent my adolescence in Giarre, a town nestled between Mount Etna and the sea, where nature dances between fire and water. After earning a degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Florence, life took me to Seville, a city that embraced me for ten years, immersing me in its vibrant light and colors.

Returning to Sicily, I now teach technology at a middle school. Here, the curiosity and creativity of young minds inspire me daily, making my work a constant source of stimulation.

My love for photography blossomed when I was a child, flipping through family albums, particularly the one of my grandparents who lived an adventurous life in Addis Ababa, Africa. Those snapshots taught me the importance of memory and remembrance, preserved through the lens.

Starting at the age of 26-27, photography became a daily necessity, an irresistible call from my inner forest. Taking photos became a way of being, transforming how I see reality and people. It allowed me to fall in love with my city and rediscover the beauty in the details and nuances of everyday life. Saul Leiter said that photography teaches you to look and see: it invites you to discover a richer and more interesting visual world, even without taking a picture. "Shoot less, see more."

For me, photography is not just a document but a continuous stream of consciousness, a way to express my inner world. As someone who once struggled to communicate emotions, I now explore and convey my emotional world through images. This journey has been a powerful emotional revelation.

After exploring various photographic genres, I dedicated myself to street photography. I do not follow a documentary approach but rather an abstract interpretation of reality: reality is a tool I reconfigure through framing, timing, and perspective. Geometries, lines, colors, relationships between planes are tools to compose and convey emotions, ideas, or simply beauty. Street photography, for me, is a philosophy, an attitude toward life. The street photographer goes out without knowing what they will shoot, ready to be amazed by the everyday.

Recently, I embraced the challenge of working on photographic series, expanding my research. A nearly year-long course with Daniele Vita was crucial for me, teaching me to tell stories not through a single photo but through a series of images. Engaging with other photographers and following the evolution of their projects has been a formative and enriching experience.
